Spiritual Heritage Nantucket is a 501-c-3 non-profit organization that was founded in 2003 by year-round and summer residents of Nantucket. This non-denominational group’s vision was to bring events to the island that would “build and encourage the Christian community.” In the last 10 years SHN has shared with over 7000 people in the summer through luncheons at the Sconset Casino and Great Harbor Yacht Club and free evening events open to the public at the Nantucket High School and area churches.
Speakers have been some of the best-known names in Christian ministry from Anne Graham Lotz, Joni Eareckson Tada, Bill and Gloria Gaither and the Gaither Vocal Band to Alistair Begg. The entertainment and sports industry have been represented by Kathie Lee and Frank Gifford, Stephen Baldwin, Louise DuArt , SQuire Rushnell, and Super Bowl coach Dan Reeves. Additionally, speakers have been newscaster Brit Hume and wife, Kim, and author, radio host Eric Metaxes.
In 2015, Spiritual Heritage Nantucket started hosting free “Community Dinners” at the American Legion Building that occur on the 2nd Tuesday of each month running October through May, beginning at 6pm. The dinner is prepared and served by volunteers and is free and open to the public.
Spiritual Heritage Nantucket is governed by a board of directors and an advisory board composed of year-round and summer residents. The current board of director’s president is Dan Dunlap.
